1939. L'Europe est au bord de la guerre. Dix étrangers sont invités à Soldier Island, un rocher isolé près de la côte du Devon. Coupés du continent, avec leurs généreux hôtes M. et Mme U.N. Owen mystérieusement absents, ils sont chacun accusés d'un crime terrible. Quand l'un des membres du groupe meurt subitement, ils se rendent compte qu'ils abritent peut-être un meurtrier parmi eux.

1939. Europe teeters on the brink of war. Ten strangers are invited to Soldier Island, an isolated rock near the Devon coast. Cut off from the mainland, with their generous hosts Mr and Mrs U.N. Owen mysteriously absent, they are each accused of a terrible crime. When one of the party dies suddenly they realise they may be harbouring a murderer among their number.
