Michael est en train de perdre pied. À la dérive après le départ de sa femme, il s'est lancé dans de longues promenades solitaires à travers la campagne anglaise. Lorsqu'un ami commun tenace et une météo très imprévisible conspirent pour entraîner Michael et Marnie dans la plus épique des randonnées de dix jours, aucun d'eux ne peut imaginer pire.
