Mal Flowers, perpétuellement anxieux.se, avait Un Plan. Bien réussir à l'école, éditer le journal étudiant et finalement aller à l'université du Kentucky avec sa sœur surdouée/meilleure amie, Maddie. Mais maintenant, le journal de l'école a été fermé, et les espoirs de Mal de passer une dernière année sans encombre ont été anéantis. Au lieu de passer inaperçu.e comme iel espérait, iel doit désormais consacrer tout son temps libre à essayer de remettre son Plan sur les rails. De fil en aiguille, Mal accepte d'aider Emerson, une extravertie hors du commun qui l'a toujours intimidé.e, à créer un magazine. Dans l'arrière-salle confortable du café local, MixxedMedia voit le jour, une publication qui s'avérera plus difficile et plus passionnante que tout ce que Mal a fait auparavant. Mais Mal pourra-t-iel diriger une équipe composée de personnalités dominantes ? Et alors que les étincelles commencent à jaillir tant sur le papier qu'en dehors, apprendra-t-iel que tout dans la vie ne se passe pas forcément comme prévu ?

Perpetually anxious Mal Flowers had A Plan. Do well (enough) at school, edit the student newspaper and ultimately go to the University of Kentucky with their over-achieving sister, and best friend, Maddie. But now the school paper has been shut down, and Mal's hopes for a straightforward senior year have been dashed. Instead of flying under the radar as they'd hoped, they now have to spend every spare moment trying to get The Plan back on track. Completely out of their comfort zone, Mal agrees to help set up a zine with Emerson - a larger-than-life extrovert that Mal has always been secretly intimated by. In the cosy back room of the local coffee shop, MixxedMedia is born - a publication that will prove to be more challenging and exciting than anything Mal has done before. But can Mal cope with leading a team filled with overpowering personalities? And as sparks start to fly both on and off the page, will they learn that not everything in life has to go according to plan?
