Lors d'une de ses excursions, Yakari aperçoit un ours blanc et, le prenant d'abord pour un fantôme, s'enfuit. Plus tard, déterminé à retrouver cet étrange animal que personne d'autre ne croit avoir vu, il quitte le camp seul et, après avoir trouvé l'ours, se fait un nouvel ami. Un ami solitaire, cependant, qui ne veut pas que Yakari parle de lui à qui que ce soit… Malheureusement, le comportement du jeune Sioux attire l'attention d'un chasseur qui rêve d'un trophée blanc…

During one of his outings, Yakari catches a glimpse of a white bear and, taking it for a ghost at first, runs away. Later, determined to find the strange animal that no one else believes he's really seen, he leaves the camp alone and, having found the bear, makes a new friend. A recluse friend, though, who doesn't want Yakari telling anyone about him... Unfortunately, the young Sioux's behaviour draws the attention of a hunter who dreams of a white trophy...
